PRESIDENT of Malaita Provincial Youth Council and Program Manager of Mala-I-Tolo has encouraged all unplaced students nationwide to be positive and seek opportunities for further education and personal growth.
Philip Subu uttered these words of encouragement after it was reported that more than 10,000 students have been unplaced due to lack of space in the formal education system.
“Don’t see your non-placement in school as failure but see it as a challenge that you need to work hard to overcome.
“Seek second chance education at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU), the University of South Pacific (USP) and other universities in the country and many vocational schools and colleges in the country for your education. If you have any opportunity, please make use of it.
He also called on youths to seek assistance from training institutions and friends on how to start their education in these new academic institutions.
“I call on the youths that are unplaced to think positive and seek opportunities for education and personal growth to become a citizen that society and nation would rely on because they have something to contribute to the nation,” Mr Subu said.
He appealed to both the national and provincial governments, development partners, non-government organization stakeholders, business houses and education institutions to have vision and heart for the youths of Solomon Islands.
One of the immediate tasks is for the country to build more schools in Solomon Islands, given the country’s growing population.
