Government (SIG) sponsored students studying at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) Waigani Campus are still without their book and pocket allowances.
A senior SIG sponsored law student confirmed this an interview yesterday from Port Moresby.
It was highlighted since the arrival of more than 50 plus SIG sponsored students on campus on the 15th of February they are yet to receive their allowances.
The student said they are now in the third week of lectures and they are in desperate need.
Most of the students are reportedly attending lectures and tutorials without important school materials, text books and stationeries.
“Since our arrival on campus we are promised that our allowance will be issued to us but it had taken too long as we are now in week three of schooling.”
The students are calling on the National Training Unit (NTU) and the Solomon Islands High Commissioner in Papua New Guinea to release their allowance as soon as possible.
