DEAR EDITOR, First, I wish to say the freedom we have as a democratic country comes with sacrifices made by us Solomon Islanders and USA and allies during WWII.
Secondly, though not mentioned but still a concern given the speed and secrecy about the security agreement, USA and its allies including us Solomon Islanders are baffled though to some extent understood, but in Solomon islanders opinion not justified for the haste in initialing and finalising such security agreement.
Third, some of us who not only share democratic principles with Australia and New Zealand but Blood ties are also deeply concerned.
The fact that the USA, Australia, and New Zealand have shared concerns by sending personal high level officials is not a light thing for our country.
We hope the Solomon Islands government takes heed and takes into account the long deep relations we have with the west.
May God bless Solomon Islands USA, Australia, New Zealand, UK, and Solomon Islands.
May good sense prevail.
