TALAMUA ONLINE – A double Olympian qualifier has opted to represent Samoa in the July Pacific Games in Port Moresby Papua New Guinea.
Colorado based Jeremy Dodson whose mother is Samoan from the village of Malie, made his intentions known when he and his grandmother met with the Prime Minister before the Easter break.
Jeremy qualified for both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and is a trainer for state champions Niwot H.S. and other professional athletes.
He clocks for the 100m: 10.00w, 10.16; 200m: 20.07 and 400m: 45.91.
Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Fatialofa Sailele Malielegaoi acknowledged Jeremy’s decision as a very important one and he hopes other overseas born and based Samoans will emulate his lead in deciding to represent Samoa as a vital option.
Born and raised in Denver, CO, Jeremy attended George Washington H.S. prior to the University of Arkansas, then transferring to University of Colorado, where he earned a degree in Economics and Sociology with a minor in Neurophysiology and currently attends CU School of Law.
While competing collegiately, Jeremy was a four-time All-American (three at CU, one at UA) and set Colorado records in the indoor and outdoor 200 meters. Jeremy qualified for both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
