The director’s post of the University of the South Pacific USP Solomon Islands (USP SI) Campus in Honiara will be advertised soon.
This was revealed by the Vice Chancellor and President of the University (USP), Professor Rajesh Chandra in an interview with the Sunday Star, Friday.
“As required by our policy we will advertise the position (director) very soon,” Chandra said.
“We expect to advertise that in the next fortnight,” he added.
He said after that, they will be looking at finding the best person to lead the university here because every level of the university is crucial.
He added that there’s part of recognising that USP SI Campus is the second largest enrolment after Laucala Campus in Fiji.
“And in order to reflect the new status of the campus we have upgraded the position of the director to become the Pro-Vice Chancellor which is another level up,” he said.
Asked about the reasons for the termination of the former director, John Usuramo, Chandra said:
“All I would say is that an audit was done and the auditorwas very concern about the findings.
“And the view from them and the view from the senior management was that, when those findings occur the most senior people take accountability because they are the ones who are signing the paper, they are the ones who are in charge and therefore we have to come to those decisions.”
The director’s post has been vacant for the last sixth months since Usuramo’s termination.
Dr Patricia Rodie is currently the acting director.
