USP Pro Chancellor Professor Chandra reminded pacific students graduated at the USP Laucala campus to start thinking of a new beginning that is full of possibilities.
He made this remarks during the USP graduation ceremony held at Vodafone arena in Suva, Fiji on Friday.
Professor Chandra told the graduates that as they celebrated the end of their journey, they must start thinking of a new beginning and new beginning that is always full of possibilities.
“As I have often remarked at graduation ceremonies, it is a big moment for our graduates. You’ve all worked very hard and your families are all very proud of you.
“I also remind graduates that as you celebrate the end of your journey, you must start thinking of a new beginning and a new beginning is always full of possibilities.
“Your thirst for knowledge, skills and competency should continue.
Commit yourself to life-long learning and keep yourself relevant, useful and satisfied,” he said.
He also told the graduates to make an ‘unshakeable commitment to having high ethical standards’ in everything they do.
Meanwhile a young Solomon Islands female student who graduated with Bachelor of Science in Marine Science Joana Mesepitu said graduating at university was a big achievement that came through hard work.
She said to achieved such qualification was a challenging task for her but her determination made her dream became a reality.
“I have been working hard, strive and put a lot of effort towards my study and now I deserve it,” she said.
Miss Mesepitu said nothing is impossible for any student to achieve their dreams like her once they strive and work hard in their studies.
She hopes many young female will take up marine science as it is important to know what the marine life is important to our lives.
A total of 1285 students graduated from the University of the South Pacific’s Laucala campus on Friday.
Out of the total graduates 80 students from Solomon Islands were supposed to graduate but only twenty students attended the graduation ceremony.
Also attending the graduation to witness the Solomon Islands students’ graduates was minister of education Dickson Ha’amori.
