A FINANCIAL scheme to assist private funded students is being offered by the University of the South Pacific (USP) to offset their study cost.
This scheme is being offered this first semester.
USP Solomon Islands campus administrative coordinator Layson Leve said, private funded students currently enrolled in the undergraduate or postgraduate degree can apply through USP Solomon Islands campus.
“The Student Bursary Scheme is particularly for private sponsored students only, who are currently admitted or enrolled in any Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree programme,” he said.
He added that key selection criteria are;
“A 2.5 GPA or more, and/or proven consistent improvement in grades over the last two (2) semesters.
“Family income of no more than $SBD90, 000 per annum.
“Student not under any scholarship or Loans Scheme,” Mr. Leve stated.
He said that to apply applicants must complete the Students Bursary Scheme application form available at Students Administrative Services (SI campus) or may download the form at the following link www.usp.ac.fj/forms.
“And also provide verified evidence of family income of no more than $SBD 90,000 per year.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Leve strongly encourages private sponsored students to apply.
“It’s a good opportunity to try. It’s not a new scheme, students in the past have benefited from it.
“Applications close on Wednesday 4th March 2015,” he said.
