THE newly built University of the South Pacific (USP) Solomon Islands campus located at King George, East Honiara will be formally commissioned and opened on Thursday, 3rd October.
The official opening ceremony will commence at around 10am in the morning and will see a high-level delegation from the government, USP and donor partners witnessing the event.
The Regional Director of the Asian Development Bank’s (ABD) Pacific Liaison and Coordination Office, Shane Rosenthal will join the Governor General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency, David Tiva Kapu and the Vice-Chancellor of USP, Professor Pal Ahluwalia to open the new, upgraded campus.
A statement from USP said, “this is a momentous occasion for the regional university marking the beginning of a new chapter of Pacific Education.”
The opening program will feature the welcome address by Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia who is already in Honiara, address by Solomon Islands Acting Prime Minister Bradley Rodo Smoky Tovosia and opening by The Governor General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency Reverend David Tiva Kapu.
There will be a guided tour of the facility by the VIP guests.
Cultural performances will also be featured during the program.
The public in Honiara are also welcomed to witness the program.
