THE HONIARA City Council will set up two fixed sites for vaccination this week.
Ministry of Health and Medical Services permanent secretary Pauline McNeil said the two sited identified are Lawson Tama and the Solomon Islands Ports area.
The permanent secretary made this announcement as the demand for vaccination continues to rise in Honiara.
Mrs McNeil said the vaccination rollout team had visited 50 communities and work places so far.
“…in the last 18 days we have 13,000 people vaccinated in Honiara.
“The majority of those persons that were vaccinated, 70 per cent of those persons are first dose.
“I wish to thank every person in Honiara who have come forward for their first dose,” the permanent secretary said.
She said this figure excludes vaccination data for the provinces as that is still to be obtained from the health teams in the provinces.
Therefore, she said with set up of fixed vaccination sites in Honiara, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services hoped to see an increase number on vaccination.
Mrs McNeil was speaking during the Talkback Show this afternoon (Sunday 13th February).
