Two vehicles collided on Saturday evening around 8pm in front of the Solomon Motors’ fuel station at Point Cruz, Central Honiara.
It was understood that the driver of the short boot car was heavily intoxicated at that time.
According to eyewitnesses the car came up from the road leading down to Yacht club and was attempting to turn towards the western lane, but unfortunately the driver lose control of the steer and the car climbed over to the other lane and was smashed by a Rav4 that travels east.
An eyewitness said, the car was leaping over to other lane when it climbs over the footpath separating east/west route and collided with the Rav4.
Nobody was injured but both vehicles have their front-part badly damaged.
Driver of the car surrendered himself to the police whereas owner of the Rav4 took his police statement and vowed to get some compensation.
The accident held up the traffic for nearly an hour that evening, as people huddled up at the scene causing traveling vehicles to slow down, while police were assessing area.
The drunk driver was later taken to the Central police station for questioning.
