POLICE in Western Province have arrested 21 people at Kazukuru in Rendova, Western Province, following a logging dispute in that area.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday the 14th of August and were placed in Noro police custody.
These were for allegedly blocking roads and other criminal activities at Kazukuru.
This was revealed by the Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga on Thursday at the weekly police conference at Rove Police headquarters.
“Some of the people have taken the laws into their own hands and police have to respond to that following a formal court order.
“Whilst police did the arrest, I want to urge the people in that area to deal with issues in the right way and not resolve to crime.
“Arresting and placing people in custody is not the right approach.
“We will continue to do police work but it is good to always resolve disputes through mediation.
“It is good to talk with people especially leaders in those villages to do the right thing.”
