COMMUNITIES within Kwaibaita valley in east Malaita marked Christmas with church services and feasting.
The day began with a prayer of thanksgiving before villagers went out to engage in other out door activities.
George Ramo told the Solomon Star via mobile phone villagers marked the festivities in a very peaceful manner.
“As in any rural community, church service is always a feature of Christmas celebrations and this was the first thing the villagers of Kwaibaita valley went to on Thursday morning,” Mr Ramo said.
“This was followed by feasting and other social activities,” he added.
“Everyone gathered in families to share whatever food they prepare for the day before dispersing to their various homes.
“It was interesting to see families coming together to share.
“No alcohol related incidents happen.
“People just enjoy themselves and get involved in out-door activities organised in the communities while others just go on with their normal life or work.
“The weather on Christmas day was fine. A heavy rain came the next day,” Mr Ramo said.
