People living in and around the Tawaiabu community in West Makira were told to take huge responsibility of the newly funded water supply project in their area.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony on Monday, a representative from the Japanese Embassy in Solomon Islands emphasizes that the villagers must be responsible for taking care of the funded project.
“I would like to emphasize that you have started to assume huge responsibility to take good care of these funded items from now.
“I hope that these items will be maintained well by community so this project will benefit many generations of people in your community and be remembered as a symbol of the friendship between the two peoples of Japan and Solomon Islands for many years to come,” the representative said.
Under Japan’s Grassroots and Human Security Projects Scheme, water supply project is one of the priority areas to address the very basic human needs of the people in Solomon Islands.
Japan is committed to continue its efforts in this field to see more happy faces in many places of Solomon Islands.
