VISITING guests and public who want to visit the Mataniko fall must first seek permission before going on bush walks.
A spokesman for Lelei village Richard Job stressed this as a warning for tourists and locals who want to visit the water-fall.
He said seeking permission from the village elders of Matanko will help visitors to get the right information about their journey during the bush trek.
Adding, getting a right person to accompany visitors as tour guide will be made available as well.
Mr. Job said the knowledge villagers have is very important for hikers, since they will give the right information about places and routes, as well as risks during bad weather.
“This to avoid unexpected death, when touring Mataniko fall.”
He said, the people who are living at Lelei village know the right time to visit the fall.
“If someone wants to visit the fall without a tour guide from Mataniko village, there are only two things, either you’ll return safe or you’ll never see your family again,” cautioned Mr. Job.
Furthermore, he warned people who resides along side Mataniko river to take extra precaution during heavy rainfall and do not build houses along the river bank.
“Obeying such warning is important to avoid problem,” said the spokesman.
