Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Guadalcanal, Jaimie Lency Vokia is a free man.
The High Court declared MP Vokia “the duly elected MP for North East Guadalcanal Constituency. He was exonerated of all charges relating to his election in the joint elections on 17 April last year.
Judge Augustine Aulanga dismissed all counts of bribery against MP Vokia in his ruling in the High Court in Honiara on Tuesday.
Costs will be borne by the petitioner, the High Court ruled.
On hearing the decision, all MP Vokia could manage was, “case blo me over”. He is on a parliamentary tour to India.
“The win was in favour of the Almighty,” he said.
A sole Kadere Party MP in the National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) coalition led by Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, MP Vokia is also the Parliamentary Wing Leader of the Kadere Party.
A flagship policy of the Party is the proposed Benefits Sharing Agreement (BSA), which proposes a 45 per cent share instead of just three per cent as it is the case today.
Kadere will meet next week to prepare for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March
