ALCOHOL will be banned during the election day next week.
Nixon Manetoga, an inspector at Tetere Police station, North Guadalcanal highlighted this over the weekend at the official launching of Martin Sopage’s four years constituency plan at his home village of Parasisi.
Guadalcanal Palm Plantation Oil Limited (GPPOL) workers, Tetere Police officers, chiefs and surrounding communities and supporters packed Parasisi to witness the official launching.
Mr Manetoga said Tetere police will work hard to ensure the election next week is peaceful and trouble free.
He said those found breaching the ban and continue to drink alcohol and acted disorderly will be prosecuted.
Starting this week Police will start their elections operation around the constituencies to start advising all beer outlets about the election date.
“Any one who fails to comply with the law will be fine accordingly or will be put into custody. Therefore I urged all voters to be aware about this since we are in the election mood,’’ Mr Manetoga said.
