A TOTAL of 16 girls have been admitted to the Girls Friendly Society (GFS) Ministry at the Transfiguration Vura Parish on Sunday.
Founded in the United Kingdom in 1875, the Girls Friendly Society within the Anglican Church strives to empower girls and young women by encouraging them to develop their full potential through programmes that provide training, confidence building, educational opportunities and fun activities that develop self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and resilience.
A milestone achievement for Vura Parish, the admission of the 16 girls witnessed by family, friends and parishioners, was one of the highest numbers of young girls to be admitted to the ministry per year in any parish in the Diocese of Central Solomons.
