Vura community high school (CHS) in East Honiara, Wednesday successfully staged its annual 2019 school graduation day.
The event was held at St Barnabas Cathedral hall in Honiara where more than 200 students attended the event.
The ceremony saw students from forms 3, 5 and 6 being awarded their certificate of completion and prizes for top academic students in various subjects in the various forms.
The event was held before the students sit for their external exams as of next week.
Speaking at the ceremony yesterday the school principal Charlie Tango said such an event allows the school body to value and honor the achievements of the students and would like to see students progress into the future with pride and confidence.
The theme for this year’s ceremony was ‘Endure challenges through Sacrifice for success.’
He said despite the many challenges being faced by the school, the students through their hard work and sacrifice have embarked on their goals to achieve the best in their studies and achieve their future dreams.
“So congratulate yourselves for striving to conquer your mission of learning as you have accomplished the first step in your educational journey as you look forward for the next step in your future journey,” he said.
The colourful ceremony commenced with a parade into the hall by the students and officials, followed by prayer, speeches, awarding of certificates and prizes, entertainment and a leavers feast.
It was an emotional moment for many students because some of them would not be together once again next year.
