THE Catholic Archdiocese of Honiara has announced that Wainoni in Makira-Ulawa Province has been chosen as the host for the 2027 Archdiocese Women Gathering.
The announcement was made by the Archdiocese Women Desk Coordinator Sarah Manedetea recently at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Women Gathering and the solemnity of Our Lady of the Assumption held at the Saint Mother Teresa Family and Youth Retreat Center.
This year’s gathering, which brought together 4000 women from across the archdiocese for a week of prayer, reflection and fellowship, concluded on a high note as the flag was ceremoniously handed over to the Wainoni Women Coordinator.
The moment was met with joyful celebrations, marking the beginning of preparations for what is anticipated to be another spiritually enriching event in 2027.
In her announcement, Ms Manedetea outlined the future plans for the Archdiocese Women Gathering, explaining that the 2025 event will be hosted at the parish level, followed by a deanery-level gathering in 2026.
These events will conclude in the Archdiocese-wide gathering in Wainoni, where women from across the Solomon Islands will come together to celebrate their faith and unity.
“The journey towards 2027 is one of spiritual preparation and growth,” Ms Manedetea emphasized.
“Each year leading up to Wainoni will be an opportunity for our women to strengthen their bonds within their parishes and deaneries, laying the foundation for a powerful and united Archdiocesan gathering in 2027,” she added.
The Archdiocese Women Gathering has become a vital event in the spiritual calendar of the Catholic women in the Solomon Islands, offering a platform for dialogue, spiritual renewal, and the promotion of Christian values within the community.
