WANEAGU FC secured the top spot of the Telekom S-league after edging defending champions Henderson Eels FC 2-1 at Lawson Tama, Sunday.
It was an exciting match which saw the Lawson Tama stadium packed with spectators.
Waneagu’s win means they led with 10 points and a goal difference of six while Central Coast is back at the second spot also with 10 points and a goal difference of five.
Goals by Ali Mekawir and Bobby Lesley was enough to hand the defending champions their first defeat of the season.
Mekawir gave Waneagu the lead in the first half, leaving Eels with the option to fight for the equalizer.
Eels leveled the score from a penalty by Tutizama but was not enough as Waneagu hit back with a late goal by Bobby Lesley for the winning goal.
Meanwhile, former TSL champions Solomon Warriors FC defeated Real Kakamora FC 4-0.
