THE Australian women’s rugby Sevens team, the Waratahs will be touring the Solomon Islands in two months’ time.
This was confirmed by the Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF), Tuesday.
During their visit, they will play two games against the Solomon Islands National women’s sevens team and a combined team on May 14th.
This is a good test for the country’s women’s sevens team to get them prepared for upcoming regional tournaments.
SIRUF is inviting all national rugby women’s representatives and interested girls to attend training as of this week in preparation for the tour.
Training will be held at the Town Ground Rugby Field at 5pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
SIRUF in partnership with the Australia High Commission has other activities lined up.
Some of these programs are the Get into rugby coaching clinic, coaches & match officials upskilling, visit to the SI national museum and other programs.
Rugby women and interested girls are asked to contact Team Manager Freda Matangi via 7157881 or Head Coach Jimmy Seuika via 7933599 for more information.
