A warrant of arrest has been issued for the man accused of the $10 million scandal uncovered in the Ministry of Health and Medical Service on Tuesday.
John Biliki was not present in court which resulted in a warrant of arrest being issued for his arrest.
His lawyer George Gray was also absent in court as he was engaged in a trial in the High Court.
Principal Magistrate Sheppard Lapo adjourned the matter to November 18 for the review of the warrant of arrest.
Some disclosures were also disclosed to Gray’s colleague who was in court yesterday.
Forty-five year-old Biliki of Choiseul Province is facing 15 counts of false pretence and 15 counts of money laundering.
He was accused of defrauding the government of $7.3 million.
His co-accused a taxi driver whom was labelled as a just a ‘toy boy’ in this scandal was sentenced early this year to defrauding the government of $1.5 million.
Prosecution alleged that between January 1, 2012 and September 20, 2013, Biliki colluded with some public officers from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MoHMS) with intend to defraud the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) on 15 occasions which totalled up to $7.3 million.
It was alleged that Biliki registered and operated a shipping agent called Eroba Shipping Services and allegedly assisted to set up the Joke Shipping Services also a shipping agent intentionally to make it look legitimate to unreasonable claims of payments from SIG.
These shipping services names were allegedly being used by Biliki and his associates and some officers from the MoHMS, to get several payments from SIG covering up Health Clinic projects in and around the provinces.
The shipping services were set up to ship materials to the various projects sites in the provinces, to which were never done.
The accused and his cohorts allegedly claimed payments from the SIG with fictitious services or services that were never provided.
Part of the money was already used by the accused and his cohorts.
