The Telekom S-league defending champions, Solomon Warriors FC yesterday proved they are back in form following a draw with KOSSA by thrashing Real Kakamora FC 5-0 to maintain their top position of the competition with 27 points.
Gagame Feni scored a double while team mates, Micah Lea’alafa, Dennis Ifunaoa and Jerry Donga shared a goal each to register their second win of round two of the TSL competition.
The match kicked off on a high note with each side searching for an early lead.
Despite owning some majority of possession in the opening minutes of the match, Kakamora wasted their opening chances while Warriors were on target with their early chances.
It was Micah Lea’alafa who gave them the early advantage.
A long ball from the back found the unmarked Micah who powered through the remaining back line and finished off the post to make it one.
Following their opening goal, Warriors threw immense pressure at the Kakamoras and they were unable to deal with the pace and incision as the game grew.
Ifunaoa extended the lead mid way through the first half to make it two.
Warriors’ play pattern was outstanding, and was causing the Kakamora side all kinds of problems.
Kakamora came so close at times to break their deadlock but again were wasteful in front of goal.
Kakamora’s striker, Johan found himself gifted a free chance on goal when he swift past the Warriors defense line but was obviously in a panic situation as he prompted to take a shot from afar giving Warriors custodian Seda less pressure to make the save.
It was 2-0 in the first half and as expected Warriors began the second half in control.
Warriors continued to pour forward and got their deserved goals by Jerry Donga, Dennis and Micah.
Kakamora had other chances but some poor touches up front or a tough Warriors defense saw the build-ups broken down.
Kakamora remains on the eighth spot with eight points.
Meanwhile the day’s opening match between Koloale FC and X-Beam FC ended in a 3-3 draw.
