Solomon Warriors FC has booked their spot for the grand finals of the Telekom S-league (TSL) Championship.
Warriors defeated KOSSA FC 4-2 on Wednesday to give them the opportunity to defend the TSL Championship title.
It was an equally fought match against KOSSA which ended the first half with a 1-1 all draw.
Warriors broke the deadlock from a penalty by Judd Molea who made no mistake sending it past KOSSA custodian to take the lead in the first half.
Moffat Kilifa leveled the score for KOSSA three minutes into the second half leaving supporters from both sides in doubt as to and who will finish off victorious.
Warriors made a quick reply to Kilifa’s goal from a perfect finish by Tigi Molea to regain the lead before substitutes Silas Eke and Ian Paia had a goal each to give Warriors a comfortable lead.
Despite trailing by three goals, KOSSA kept their momentum going, make good runs into the Warriors half with some very good combination upfront however could not turn all into goals except one, which was scored by Watemae to give them their second goal.
Warriors coach, Moses Toata was impressed with his players however admitted they need to work on some areas as part of their preparation for the Oceania Champions League quarter finals.
“The players did well and I congratulate them for the win.
“But we need to work on a few things, especially finishing.
“We look forward for the grand finals, whether it be Malaita Kingz or Marist.
“We are prepared for whoever steps up to be our rival in the grand final,” he said.
Toata also commended the two substitutes, Eke and Paia for extending their lead.
KOSSA Coach, Eddie Marahare accepted the defeat against the TSL champions.
However Marahare is not really happy with the way the match officials officiated the match.
“We accept defeated, it was a good game against the champions.
“While we accept the defeat, we are not really happy with some of the decisions made by the match officials.
“They play some part in demolishing game and I can say the level of refereeing today was below par,” he said.
He wished Warriors all the best in the finals and also the Oceania Champions League quarter finals.
