TELEKOM S-league (TSL) champions, Solomon Warriors FC will take on Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) Hekari United FC for their first friendly match, Monday.
The match is set to kick off at 3:30pm at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
Solomon Warriors will play two international club friendlies as preseason matches against the PNG champions Hekari United.
The second friendly match is scheduled for April Thursday 27th April.
The match is organized by SIFF and the TSL board in partnership with Solomon Warriors as a preseason for the OFC Champions League in Vanuatu next month.
Warriors Coach Franco Ne’e recently revealed will be a boost to their preparations ahead of the OFC Champions League next month in Vanuatu.
“We have 18 fully fit players but we are underdone being in pre-season.
“Two games next week against Hekari United from PNG will be invaluable for us before we face Auckland City in our first game of the tournament.
“I am confident we can get through the group and make it to the semi-finals,” Ne’e told SIFF media.
Meanwhile SIFF Competition director, Gerald Oiaka on behalf of SIFF and the TSL board acknowledged the Honiara City Council (HCC) for their approval to host the matches at Lawson Tama.
“SIFF and TSL Board acknowledge Honiara City Council (HCC) for the support with Lawson Tama as the host venue for both matches.
“Lawson Tama is the only available venue to host national and international matches and we appreciate HCC’s support towards SIFF football programs for 2023.
“The friendly matches between both clubs are part of their preparation for the OFC Champions League in Vanuatu which will commence on the 14th of May to the 27th of May 2023,” he said.
Tickets for the matches are $20 for the grandstand, $10 for adults and $5 for children for the hillside.
