Former champions Solomon Warriors opened their 2017/2018 Telekom S-League campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Real Kakamora at Lawson Tama on Saturday.
Moses Toata and Co. started the match on the front foot as Solomon Islands international Gagame Feni open the scoring in 10 minutes of play.
Vanuatu international Kency Tangis extended Warriors lead as both teams went into the dressing room 2-0.
Gagame, who was outstanding throughout the entire match, completed his brace in the second half to put his side 3 up.
Former Solomon Islands international rep Ian Paia puts the game to bed with a fourth in the later stages of the second half.
Toata told Sunday Sports the win is very important for his team.
“Opening games are always hard but the boys manage to come clean with a 4-0 win today (yesterday),” he said.
“Although the combination was not really what I expected, the win is very important to us,” Toata added.
The win puts Warriors in the driving seat since they are determined to back on the top this season.
Meanwhile, there are two great games set for today at Lawson Tama.
KOSSA FC will take on FC Guadalcanal FC at 2pm while last season’s runners-up Western United to play Malaita Kingz FC at 4pm.
