Dear Editor – I read the letter from Geoff Ford Samuel published on the 7th January while on holiday in NZ.
I must say that the letter was probably one of the most balanced I have read in recent times, thank you Geoff.
However, I need to point out just one correction, SolRais at the latest count has more than a dozen competitor brands imported into the Solomon’s and therefore, cannot be considered a monopoly.
It is only due to the quality of our brand, SolRice, which the vast majority of the consumers of rice choose to enjoy, does it appear we are a monopoly, which is clearly not correct.
However, SIPA is in fact a true monopoly, with no competitors what so ever.
So I thought I would point this out to ensure that we all understand who and what a monopoly really is.
By the way Editor, I thought the cartoon of the boxing ring was a classic, well done, but I doubt the SIPA/SolRais competition will ever get to that stage.
