SUVA, (FIJI TV) – Athletes taking part in this week’s Oceania Weightlifting Championship will be selected for anti-doping tests during the competition.
Organisers feel every athlete deserves the opportunity to compete in a level playing field.
Athletes from the Oceania region will go through anti-doping tests to provide a level playing field to ensure the best qualify to Rio.
Selection will be random and very confidential.
Urine and blood samples will be collected and directed by the International Weightlifting Federation.
If tests are proven positive after they have been clarified in Sydney and America, then athletes will be penalised respectively.
The Oceania Weightlifting Championship will start today at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
