The Wesley United Church congregation in Honiara celebrated the birth of Christ with a special Christmas Day service on Wednesday, 25th December.
Congregations from across the city and beyond gathered at the Central Wesley United Church, located opposite the Honiara Magistrate’s Court.
Representatives from Wesley United Church, Kukum United Church, Naha United Church, and Gilbert Camp United Church congregations came together for the celebration.
Meanwhile, the Agape United Church congregation at Lungga held their own Christmas service.
The sermon was delivered by a team of four ministers, including Reverend Kendrick Kasa, Reverend Patrick Ngasi, Reverend Amos Kube, and Reverend Hilton Roy.
The message was based on Isaiah 9, verses 1-7.
The ministers emphasized that the birth of Jesus marked a turning point for humanity, with the child being both fully divine and fully human.
They encouraged the congregation to remember that the birth of hope is not just a historical event, but something to be lived out daily.
Reverend Amos Kube, Superintendent Minister for the Honiara Circuit, summarized the message, reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas.
The central theme of the day was love – that Jesus is the embodiment of God’s love, and through that love, He became the light of the world.
Following the church service, the festive atmosphere continued into the afternoon of Christmas Day.
Church members gathered to participate in a fun-filled session of games, adding to the joy and celebration of the special day followed by feasting.
