The Western provincial government (WPG) has acknowledged all shipping operators serving the province and honestly paying their business fee.
Western provincial finance minister Lester Maomasi Huckel highlighted this during the 2014 full assembly meeting in Gizo this week.
He said Western as a province with many islands depend on the shipping services.
“The support from the shipping companies is important for the economic growth of the province and the country.
“And for that I would like to thank the shipping operators currently serving the province which helps to brings revenue to the province.”
He added most of the shipping operators have continued to support the province through their fees which supports revenue collection of the province.
