Maravovo community and one of the nation’s senior national secondary school Selwyn College in West Guadalcanal has joined other rural communities throughout the country to benefit from the breeze network rural expansion.
Being in the Island of Guadalcanal does not mean the residents have access to all national developments including access to communications.
Following the successful installation of the tower, Our Telekom last week launched the newly built tower.
Speaking during the official launching, Fr. William Sade on-behalf of the community acknowledge Our Telekom for the service now at their area. Fr. Sade said Marovovo community and Our Telekom have been working together over the past three months in making sure the project is successful.
Fr. Sade said the benefit of tower has range from administration work of the church and community but significantly for the schools in accessing to learning materials for students and teachers, disaster management and individual’s needs.
Fr William said; he hopes that their access to the service to Marovovo community will boost cooperation and smooth operations of the community work and social services.
A statement from Our Telekom said that tower is a win-win project for the community and Our Telekom.
Without allowing the land such infrastructure and service would not be available in their community. The company urge the people and land owners to look after the facility for the use of the service now and in the future.
The Maravovo Breeze tower carries both voice and data which gives users variety of options. You can access internet via mobile phones or laptop using dongle in the plantation or along Selwyn College Beach, use of Multimedia Messaging (mms), Short Messaging Service (sms) and phone calls.
