Dear Editor – It is with surprise that I read in your paper last Friday how well a group that called themselves West Honiara Council architected claims to spoil the MP.
Namson Tran during his term has helped us communities in the constituency in many ways. He helped the youth up to women’s and church groups.
No past MP has done great things and shown a lot of commitment like Mr Tran. Haven’t you read in the papers some of his helps? He even helped those outside of his constituencies and if those people decided to come and register here, it is their own will. Go to the electoral commission and raise your useless complaints there and stop spreading lies that are not even substantiated in the media. The media must also stop spreading unsubstantiated reports that discredit intending candidates because many will come in different names such the WHC to spoil people because they want their candidate in.
Whoever WHC represents and wanted to put into power, it is your right but for us thousands of the West Honiara constituents, we stick with our current MP who has shown a lot of help to people. Even during the flooding, he dig deep within his own pockets to keep the help flowing to people. Can your candidate do that. I bet you never!
Do we want people who make long sea wharves in the name of people only to no benefit of anyone? Do we want candidates who go around preaching only to come into power and do otherwise? For God’s sake people, haven’t we learn from this? This happened often in the past. We have a very good leader who is not interested in our funds. He gives it back altogether to people through various community and group projects. He even paid off land for the Karaina community and others. Any past MP did that already? Never and there will never be.
So for us who were paid our water bills and many other forms of help from Mr Tran, we are not moved by the claims by the WHC. Let them continue to work hard but we support you Tran. Keep up the good work. Action speaks louder than words. Some people are only good at talking. Some intending candidates for the constituency I know are good talkers, but never are doers.
People of West Honiara, let’s stand firm and not be swayed by sweet talkers who have nothing to offer us after the election.
