The Western provincial government on Wednesday passed its 2014 -2015 recurrent and estimate development budget worth $29 million.
The budget was passed during the first day of the 2014 Western provincial full assembly meeting in Gizo.
In an exclusive interview with the Western provincial finance minister Lester Saomasi Huckel yesterday who tabled the Bill, he said the budget is proposed 2014 -2015 development plan of the province.
“We passed the budget and every assembly members were excited and supported the figure.
“The money would go towards some of our major development projects proposed in the province,” Mr Huckel said.
The finance minister who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) of west Honiara added that the figure ($29m) would be divided into current and proposed project of the province.
“53% would be spent on development while 47% would go towards the recurrent budget.”
He explained currently the province have some big projects that they intend to build this year.
“And this money would be divided equally to some essential projects that we intend to pursue this year and beyond,” he said.
