Western Provincial Government (WPG) will upgrade two existing roads and bridges Seghe and Vella La Vella.
These two areas have existing roads and bridges which the provincial government will upgrade to provide accesses to farmers and connect businesses.
Provincial Minster of Works Goldie Ringi told the Solomon Star on Wednesday, the current provincial government had already discussed the proposal and work we’ll start off when survey and assessments are done on these sites.
“In Seghe, we are looking at upgrading roads within the station because Seghe is the hub of Marovo.
“While in Vela, we’ll upgrade the existing bridges there because what we understand Vella La Vella has wooden bridges which is unsafe.
“The province will provide fund to rebuild these bridges to ensure farmers and people can accesses proper bridges when doing business,” Mr Ringi said.
He explained funding for the project would be sought from both national and provincial governments.
“This is a small upgrading project to help people travel safely from places using vehicle or foot to avoid incident,’’Ringi said.
Meanwhile Ringi urged people in these places to work closely with the provincial government while work on site kicks off.
The upgrading work will starts once funds ready this year.
