Western Cup defending champions Central Ranogga has failed to defend their title after being narrowly edge out in the first semi-finals of the competition at the JFK Stadium in Gizo yesterday.
Central Roviana led by Western Turtle veteran defender Alec Wickham denied the defending champions in stunning battle that ended with a 3-2 victory.
Central Roviana will now take on Southeast Vella in the grand final showdown today.
Southeast Vella booked their grand final spot after beating West Gizo 4-1 in the second semi-final yesterday.
In the losers final Central Ranogga will take on West Gizo.
Today’s losers’ final and grand final is anticipated to be tough and exciting to watch as all finalists will be vying for best results to take home.
Central Roviana left footer Abraham Maezama told Star Sport after their great victory yesterday, they were happy to achieve what they have achieved so far.
He said the grand final will be tough as Southeast Vella are also vying for the top spot, but he is confident that his side will add a new chapter in their football history.
“We are confident, but the final whistle will decide who will be the winner,’’ Maezama said.
Meanwhile Star Sports understands a total of 17 teams competed at the competition.
