WHITE River Community High School stunned favorites Koloale in the grand-final of the Bulk Shop futsal under-16 yesterday to win the title.
The young guns from west Honiara clinched the inaugural Bulk Shop U16 title with a 6-5 victory.
Starman Mana grabbed a hatrick and their number 3 notched home a brace in the dying embers of final.
Koloale with most junior Kurukuru players in their rank dominated the proceedings throughout the final. Captain Raphael Lea’i and Travis starred for Koloale to put their side 5-4 in the later stages of the second half.
However, White River’s number 3 had other ideas as he scored two late goals to turned the game on its head.
They held on for a close win with the final score reads 6-5 in favour of the west side boys. J
Jubilant White River coach Paul Berry gave credit to his boys for their gallant performance on the court.
“The players deserved to be champions as we have prepared well for the final. They kept a good defence line and break on the counter attack to score most of our goals.
“Massive thank you to my two defenders who are national U17 players for leading by example. Overall thank you to our Heavenly Father for the victory, ” he said.
St John beat Lungga in the losers-final to claim third.
