Solomon Islands female weightlifter, Jenly Wini says her participation at the Asian Indoor Games is part of her preparation for the Commonwealth Games next year.
Ms Wini told Star Sports on Monday, that her focus is really for the Commonwealth Games next year and the participation at the Asian Games is a boost to her preparation.
“I’m more focused for the Commonwealth Games next year.
“Participating at the Asian Indoor Games is a boost to my preparation.
“I’m thankful for this opportunity.”
She vowed to do her best and achieve a good result for the country in her debut.
“It’s a competition with the Asians and there are many top athletes but I will do my best.
“I am aiming for a medal this time round at the Commonwealth Games,” she said.
Wini and three other weightlifters will represent the country in the Asian Indoor Games.
Weightlifting will start tomorrow Wednesday September 20.
Ms Wini is in her top form after months of preparation at the Weightlifting Academy in New Caledonia.
Last week she participated at the Oceania Weightlifting Championship and the Commonwealth qualification.
She won two gold medals for both the Oceania championship and the Commonwealth Games Qualification.
This is the second time to win at the Commonwealth qualification competition, the first was in 2015.
