SOLOMON Islands top female weightlifter Jenly Tegu Wini edges closer to her qualification for the Olympic Games this year following another impressive performance.
Wini won a gold medal in the Australian Open hosted by the Australian Weightlifting Federation as she continues her quest to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games.
This is a massive contribution to the points she earns during this qualification window.
According to reports from One Team Solomon, globally Jenly is currently ranked 44th and can qualify automatically if she finishes in the top 8 or as the best Oceania weightlifter in her 59kg class.
Meanwhile, the second top female weightlifter Mary Lifu Kini also competed in the Australian Open in Canberra.
She finished in second place behind Australia’s Erika Yamasaki.
Lifu is also competing for a place at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
