Honing their eye and fine-tuning their knowledge is the latest group of woman hoping to take command of football matches in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
Offered by the Port Vila women’s football league, the basic referee course was run by former Vanuatu referees Elsie Titus and Leisale Solomon.
The pair provided valuable insights and knowledge of refereeing as well as providing the ten participants with proof that there is a pathway for female match officials.
Activities included laws of the game theory, watching match incidents and foul identification DVDs and conducting practical exercises at trainings.
Port Vila women’s football league committee believes the enthusiasm shown by the participants is exciting and it’s looking forward to continuing to work with and support these up-and-coming match officials as they embark on their careers.
