The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) women’s football division has kicked off their preparations for 2023 Pacific Games set to be staged in Honiara.
SIFF’s Women Development Officer (WDO) Diana Justice confirmed this to the local media in a press conference yesterday.
“SIFF’s priority now is to work on our lower age categories competitions,’’ she said.
“This is to ensure that we have a competitive team by 2023 Pacific Games,’’ she said.
She said so far Honiara Football Association (HFA) has already started their U16 competition while the rest of Provincials Football Associations (PFAs) will soon kick off their competitions during this coming school break.
“So far we’ve already have coordinators in our PFAs,’’ she said.
“They are the once who will organise competitions in the provinces,’’ she said.
Justice said their plan is to identify young potential players as soon as possible and help groom them for 2023 games.
She also stressed that women’s football is no longer concentrate in Honiara but spread out to the provinces.
This was made possible with the support of the current SIFF administration.
