LOCAL Non-government Organization (NGO) Vois Blo Mere (VBM) has strongly condemned the killing of a nine year old girl in a remote village in Malaita, over the weekend.
The girl died from serious injuries sustained after she was stabbed with an axe following an alleged attempted rape incident.
Lisa Horiwapu of VBM, told the Solomon Star that such incident is inhumane.
“This is unacceptable and there is no such thing like that,” she said.
“The girl is just an innocent child that did not deserved to be killed in such manner,” Ms Horiwapu said.
She added that with regards to the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence Campaign, it is the responsibility of each and everybody to act together in fighting against such practice.
“This is a serious issue that all of us need to address.
“This includes our policy maker’s right down to our community, church, and village leaders.
“It is a must that we try our best to keep the rules that combine all of us together,” she added.
