THE two days women’s right workshop is underway at Rock Heaven Inn in Honiara.
The workshop started yesterday and will finish today.
According to the women’s right program manager Patricia Pollard, the workshop is being organized to further inform the civil society groups of the women’s right action movement in the country.
Pollard added that these two days workshop is very important for NGOs and church organizations to understand the Act.
She said, women’s right action movement, ministry of women, youth and children affairs together with family support centre have organized the program.
“We are happy to make this awareness workshop to educate church reps who will be going out to rural areas to better understand the terms in this women’s right act that was already passed by the government in the country.
“During the workshop, we will be breaking down terms in this Act to give fair understanding to those who are attending,” she added.
Ms Pollard also revealed that she believes this workshop will make difference in the mindset of those who attended the training.
About 30 participants are attending the workshop.
