A total of 47 players are being drafted into the country’s women’s national team training squad.
The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) made the announcement, Monday.
The training squad comprises four goalkeepers, 19 defenders, 18 midfielders, and six forwards.
These players were selected from the inaugural Solrais Women’s Premier League last year.
Most of the selected players are selected from the top four teams in the league namely RSIPF Royals, Koloale FC, Naha FC, and Frigates United.
However, opportunities are given to some outstanding players from teams like Marist FC, Solright FC, Renbel ibis, and Haura.
SIFF Technical Director Moses Toata will be the interim coach while SIFF is in the process to hire an expert to take the helm of the women’s national team.
A first meeting for the women’s national team will be held on Thursday this week at SIFF’s new office site at the Art Gallery compound.
Training is expected to start in the third week of this month in Honiara.
