The Solomon Islands National Council of Women (SINCW) strongly condemns the several recent incidences where unknown masked men are attacking, hurting to even attempt kidnapping of young school girls.
In a statement over the weekend the women’s premier body said, recent posts on social media describing how these girls are being followed and attacked by these so-called masked men while using vehicles with no registered number plates is quite alarming.
“We urge immediate investigation by RSIPF and also request that they conduct high visibility patrols near school areas and nearby communities to also the various hot spots around town.
“These incidences are trending on social media and is creating fear and unnecessary stress and anxiety amongst parents, guardians, teachers, family members, individuals, school children, and also to the wider communities.
“These incidences targeting young women and girls in our country is actually painting a rather grim picture of the fact that women and girls are neither valued nor respected in this country.
“We cannot emphasis enough the urgency of this matter. We must all stand together to protect our young women and young children as they are the future of our beloved nation.
“We appeal to all those who have noticed suspicious activities around your area please report to your nearest police station or dial 999,” the statement said.
