WORK on re-graveling the 17-kilometre stretch of road from Gwaunaru’u junction to Dala in West Kwara’ae in Malaita Province under the Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP) is progressing well.
Re-gravelling work has commenced at the Gwaunaruu road junction and is progressing well.
The SIRAP road component is implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) with the support of the World Bank.
The contractor, Exodus Trade Development Ltd is implementing the road improvement and maintenance work.
Community leaders in West Kwara’ae have expresses their delight over the progress of the road upgrade work.
A Martin Anki said the progress of the upgrade work to the main road from Gwaunaru’u junction was impressive.
He said once the road reparation work is completed, people will travel the road by vehicle in ease again.
“I appreciate SIRAP, the National Government and World Bank for implementing the road upgrade project here.
“Yes, the road maintenance work has started in Ward 3.
“It is really exciting for most of us to see the poor road condition being fixed and vehicle travelling will be easier again,” Mr Anki added.
