Residents of Gizo Town’s provincial capital of Western Province are anticipating a major upgrade to their local infrastructure as plans for a new concrete road are set to commence in the coming months.
Funded by the World Bank through the CAUSE II initiative, this project aims to significantly improve transportation within the town’s boundaries, enhancing accessibility for both residents and visitors.
Western Province Provincial Secretary Patrick Toiraena confirmed this project’s details in an interview with the Solomon Star last week.
He emphasized the importance of this development in facilitating better movement throughout Gizo, noting that the new road will not only make travel more efficient but also support economic activities in the area.
‘’The concrete road will first focus on the Gizo town boundary which is the Gizo China Town area,’’ he said.
The concrete road is expected to replace some of the existing potholes and gravel pathways, which often become challenging to navigate, particularly during the rainy season.
Community leaders in Gizo are hopeful that the new road will attract more visitors to Gizo, showcasing the town’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing Gizo’s infrastructure, paving the way for a more connected and prosperous future.
The local government and stakeholders are committed to ensuring that the project meets the needs of the community, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the region.
