Women participants at the transformational leadership and character education for peaceful co-existence ended their workshop with a mock demonstration about the election process on Friday.
The training which was held over five days demonstrated the processes before and during election time that a voter can go through.
Speaking to the Solomon Star Ben McNair a media trainer said that the purpose of the mock demonstration is to train the participants to know the process of election and its rules.
“So that when they go back to their communities they will teach the community people about the processes and what political security is.
“It is important that people know the process of election in order to follow the right procedures,” he said.
Meanwhile, the participants who took part in the mock demonstration said that the demonstration was very helpful for them.
“We learn a lot from this and what we get from this will be taught to our community people when we go back to our homes.
“We want fair and clean election to sustain peace in our nation,” they said.
The training was funded by UNDP in partnership with VBMS and facilitated by staffs of VBMS, Ilukim Sustainability Solomon Islands (ISSI) and Women Federation for world peace Solomon Islands (WFWPSI).
