THE World Bank says it is saddened by the passing of Solomon Islands first prime minister and statesman Sir Peter Kenilorea in Honiara yesterday.
“The World Bank country team is deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Peter,” said Anne Tully, the World Bank’s Country Representative for Solomon Islands.
“As Solomon Islands first prime minister, Sir Peter set an outstanding example for national leadership, in guiding Solomon Islands into independence.”
“Sir Peter was a strong champion for the development of Solomon Islands in the high offices he held during his lifetime and in his role during the peace process in 2000.
“Our deepest condolences go to his family and the people of Solomon Islands during this sad time.”
