Coach Kadau says Kurukuru given a good taste of world-class futsal by Futsalroos
THE Solomon Islands young futsal development squad has had a good taste of world-class futsal with the brilliant and intense performance from the visiting Futsalroos in its three friendly matches with the Australian National Futsal Team.
The Kurukuru side has gone head-to-head with the mighty Futsalroos in the 2024 Edition of the PacificAus Sports International Futsal series.
The 2024 International Futsal series tournament matches were played on Wednesday 21 February, Friday 23 February and Sunday 25 February at the Friendship Hall and ended in all three defeats to the development Kurukuru side by the mighty Futsalroos.
The first match of the 2024 International Futsal Series tournament saw the visitors Futsalroos narrowly beat Kurukuru by 2-1.
The second match of the futsal series saw Futsalroos prove their experience to record their second win in the PacificAus Sports Futsal Series 2024 by beating Kurukuru in a 6-2 full-time score.
The third and final match of the 2024 International Futsal Series tournament on Sunday saw the mighty Futsalroos defeat the development Kurukuru side in a commanding victory 8-2 for a clean sweep in the futsal series and claimed overall winners of the PacificAus Sports Futsal Series title for the second time.
Kurukuru Interim Head Coach Dickson Kadau told local media that he was satisfied with the team’s performance, especially against the formidable Futsalroos.
“Despite the three defeats from the mighty Futsalroos, I am satisfied with the team’s performance, especially against such a formidable Futsalroos side,” Kadau said.
“Australia is just too good, well-drilled with their movements and transitioning,” Kadau complimented the visitors. Kurukuru as a young development squad for the future, this is a good learning experience for our young stars to have a taste of world-class futsal with brilliance and intense performance from the Futsalroos.
“A contest like this is what we wanted to build a young side and see how we can improve and have our players taste of such competitive level,” Kadau added.
One of the senior players of Kurukuru development squad and Team Captain Jeffery Bule told local media after the final match on Sunday that despite the loss against Futsalroos, the important thing for the Kurukuru team is to build on their experiences from the matches.
“Despite our three separate loses to Futsalroos, I think the important thing is the Kurukuru team that we want to build.
“It’s not all about the result, it’s all about that we want to make use of the new generation so that they feel the tension of the game,” Bule said.
He said that his team would focus on staying connected and moving forward.
“They will take the experience to grow for upcoming matches and aim to reclaim the next OFC Futsal Championship.
“We know that here in the Solomons, we’re crazy about Futsal. the important is the fans and supporters want us to give our best to the mighty Futsalroos and yes, we did have a good taste of world-class futsal with brilliance and intense performance against the visitors.
“As mentioned by the Kurukuru Interim Head Coach Kadau, the development side will build from the great experience gained from the international futsal series tournament against the Futsalroos and take the experience to grow for upcoming matches,” Bule added.
