The current yacht entry fee into Solomon Island waters is very expensive.
Michael and Julie, a couple from New Zealand currently sailing around the country claimed, the fee to enter the country very costly compared to other countries.
Speaking to the Solomon Star at Roderick Bay last week the couple called on the national government to reduce the current entry fee.
The couple said the world yacht association also expressed similar concern after traveling around the world comparing the yacht entry fee.
“Solomon Island has a very expensive entry fee.
“We urge government or the responsible authority to do something about this yacht current entry fee.
“The current fee is very expensive and sometimes we cannot afford it.
“If you want more yachts to arrive here, you should reduce it, the couple said.
They said similar situation is also happening in Vanuatu where entry fee is very high which stopped yachts from sailing into Vanuatu.
Meanwhile they said Solomon island has a good yacht anchorage unlike other pacific countries.
